Program of Integrated Interventions for Updating the Knowledge of Healthcare Workers in Day Care Centers for Older People

Implementation: Collaboration between two laboratories of Hellenic Mediterranean University (HMU): QoLab (Interdisciplinary Approach Laboratory for Improving Quality of Life) and NILE (Natural Interactive Learning Environments Laboratory), along with the Association of KIFI Employees of Greece.

Aim and Objectives: Training healthcare professionals working in Day Care Centers for Older People (KIFI) in the Region of Crete to update their knowledge and enhance their skills in physical and mental health issues, aiming to improve the psychosocial, cognitive function, and quality of life of elderly individuals.

Beneficiaries: Healthcare professionals working in Day Care Centers for Older People (KIFI) in the Region of Crete.

Project Structure:

  • Healthcare professionals’ training:
    • Training (150 hours)
    • Group supervision (8 hours per group)

'Not Anymore Alone': Program of Integrated Interventions to Strengthen Social Cohesion and Improve the Quality of Life of Older People Living in Residential Care

Funding/Duration: Region of Crete (February 5, 2021 – December 31, 2022)

Implementation: Collaboration between two laboratories of Hellenic Mediterranean University (HMU): QoLab and NILE.

Aim and Objectives:

  • Improving the quality of life, psychosocial and cognitive empowerment, and addressing loneliness of elderly individuals residing in elderly care units in the Region of Crete.
  • Updating the knowledge of caregivers (formal and informal) in elderly care units on best care practices, early diagnosis, and self-care empowerment of elderly people.

Beneficiaries:

  • Elderly individuals living in elderly care units in the Region of Crete.
  • Healthcare professionals and caregivers (formal and informal) working or volunteering in these facilities.

Project Structure:
